BIOGRAPHY

Zubayer Islam specializes in transportation engineering and smart cities. He is serving as a principal investigator and co-principal investigator in multiple funded projects relating to computer vision, artificial intelligence and data analytics. With a background spanning civil engineering (Ph.D.), computer science (M.S.), and electrical and electronic engineering (B.S.), Islam brings a diverse skill set to his work. His research primarily focuses on transportation safety and mobility, where he applies advanced technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence coupled with data fusion and sensing.  Islam’s expertise is reflected in his impressive publication record, with over 30 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Analytic Methods in Accident Research, and Transportation Research Part C.
