Alessandro Fascetti

Associate Professor

BIOGRAPHY

Alessandro Fascetti directs the Digital Twin Infrastructure Science for Operations and Visualization in Engineering Resilience (DISCOVER) laboratory and conducts research in the fields of digital twin modeling and multiscale computational simulation of materials and structures for civil engineering applications. His research focuses on the numerical simulation of coupled physical phenomena occurring at multiple time and length scales, with the goal of predicting degradation in critical infrastructure systems at the regional and national levels. His research also leverages data from remote and embedded sensing to augment the computational simulations by means of computer vision techniques, as well as immersive visualization (e.g., augmented and virtual realities, holographic projections).

Fascetti has received approximately $5 million in funding to date, and conducted research sponsored by, among others, the National Science Foundation, the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, NVIDIA and Epic Games Ltd. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, conference proceedings and technical reports.
