The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international membership association of transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. Through its products and services, ITE promotes professional development and career advancement for its members, supports and encourages education, identifies necessary research, develops technical resources including standards and recommended practices, develops public awareness programs, and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information.
Founded in 1930, ITE is a community of transportation professionals including, transportation engineers, transportation planners, consultants, educators, technologists, and researchers. Through meetings, seminars, publications, and a network of nearly 16,000 members working in more than 75 countries, ITE is your source for expertise, knowledge, and ideas.

Student Membership
ITE takes great pride in our student members and we have a great history of working with our students to develop their skills so they can succeed as transportation professionals.
In order to become a student member of ITE you must
- be enrolled as a student in a graduate or undergraduate program at a school of recognized standing; and
- not be otherwise eligible for another grade of membership.
Students (undergraduate and graduate) can join ITE as a member for free.

UCF ITE Student Chapter
The Constitution of the University of Central Florida Student Chapter of ITE was approved on May 2, 2002. The latest update of the Constitution was on September 24, 2020, with Student President John McCombs, Student Vice-President Jorge Ugan and Faculty Advisor Dr. Samiul Hasan. The chapter currently has over 40 student members at the graduate and undergraduate level.
UCF ITE introduces students to the transportation profession and promotes the advancement of the profession by fostering close association of students with practicing engineers, educators, and local and national chapters of ITE. Other objectives of this chapter include fostering the development of networking, acquainting students with topics of interest in transportation, and promoting common interests among students.
