We create safe and sustainable solutions to benefit communities for generations to come.

From combating coastal short erosion to developing technology that can monitor the safety of city infrastructure, our researchers are finding novel solutions to enhance society’s infrastructure, protect our natural resources, and create safe and sustainable solutions that can benefit communities for generations to come.

At the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, our students, faculty and alumni are already making a difference through excellence in education and innovative research. We boast a world-renowned faculty that has expertise in several key areas of engineering, including smart cities, coastal systems, stormwater management, infrastructure technology and geotechnical engineering. Our graduate programs are consistently ranked among the top in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, and our travel technology and analytics program has been consistently recognized by ShanghaiRanking.

The department is housed within the College of Engineering and Computer Science, one of 13 colleges at UCF. It includes research centers such as the Stormwater Management Academy and the Environmental Systems Engineering Institute. Our faculty are also members of UCF faculty clusters such as UCF Coastal and Resilient, Intelligent and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES).

We’re also located in sunny Orlando, Florida, near the top theme parks in the world, a major international airport, beautiful beaches and cultural venues such as the Orlando Museum of Art and the Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts. Moreover, we’re conveniently located near major engineering companies such as Siemens, Lockheed Martin, Mitsubishi Power Systems, GE, Michael Baker International, CPH Corporation, Terracon and L3Harris, to name a few.
