The University of Central Florida is dedicated to increase the prominence of its Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering Department (CECE). Applications are invited for two tenure-track faculty positions in the Civil Engineering program. The targeted rank of the successful candidate is at the Assistant Professor level. The position is starting in August 2018. UCF offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in civil engineering. The undergraduate degree is ABET-accredited.

The CECE department houses the Center for Advanced Transportation Systems Simulation (CATSS). This center was established in 1998 and over the last seventeen years it has attracted more than $25 million in sponsored research related to traffic operations, traffic safety, human centered simulation, and ITS deployments. CATSS is a member of four University Transportation Centers’ consortiums that include the National Center for Transportation Systems Productivity and Management (NCTSPM) at Georgia Tech, the Southeastern Transportation Center (STC) at University of Tennessee, the Safer-Sim center at University of Iowa, and the Electric Vehicle Transportation Center (EVTC). Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely-related field at the time of appointment. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in all aspects of Smart Cities as it relates to Transportation and Infrastructure, e.g., Connected Vehicles/Autonomous Vehicles’ applications, Infrastructure Engineering and Management, Adaptive Traffic Signals’ Control and Technologies, Big Data and Internet of Things, Transportation Economics and policies, etc. Successful applicants will have either demonstrated, or shown a clear potential for, creative and independent research that would lead to strong extramurally-funded research and national/international recognition.
