The Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine announced the recipients of  2018 Early-Career Research Fellowships. These competitive awards will support the development of twenty emerging scientific leaders at the critical pre-tenure phase of their careers as they take risks on research ideas not yet tested, pursue unique collaborations, and build a network of colleagues who share their interest in improving offshore energy system safety and the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems.

Early-Career Research Fellows receive their awards in the form of a two-year grant, paid to their institutions, for research expenses and professional development. Fellows also receive professional guidance from a mentor who is a senior faculty member at their home institution to foster their development as leaders.

Our Faculty member Dr. Talea Mayo is one of the recipients of this prestigious award.
