Dr. Haitham Al-Deek research team has won three best paper awards at the TRB conference in Washington DC in January of this year. The papers were all related to Dr. Haitham Al-Deek UCF wrong-way driving research. The three papers were:
1) Best Freeway Operations Paper. This was on the analysis of performance from two wrong-way driving advanced technology countermeasures. The lead author is one of my PhD student candidates, Md Imrul Kayes. This was presented to us on January 15, 2019.
2) Best Freeway Operations Student Paper. This was on Illegal U-Turns on Limited Access Highways which lead to wrong-way crashes. The lead author is one of my MS thesis students, Omar Al-Sahili. This was presented to us on January 15, 2019.
3) Best Regional Transportation Systems Management and Operations (Regional TSM&O) Paper. This was on a regional approach to dealing with the wrong-way driving research problem. The lead author is one of Dr. Haitham Al-Deek MS thesis students, Md Omar Faruk. Presented to us on January 16, 2019.
