Daniela Diaz received the 2020-2021 university award for the Outstanding Master’s Thesis in the Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences category. This award recognizes the quality, content, and exceptional contribution in her field of Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Daniela’s thesis was entitled “Emulsion characterization study for improved bilgewater treatment and management”. Her research was supported by the Naval Research Laboratory through Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP). Daniela published 4 peer-reviewed papers in highly reputed journals including Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research where her paper was selected as a cover article (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.iecr.0c04814).
