SMART: Symbiotic Micro-Algae Recovery Technology for Sustainable Wastewater Management
Principal Investigator: Dr. Woo Hyoung Lee
As the human population increases and environmental requirements become more stringent, the need for sustainable wastewater treatment systems grows. Microalgal treatment systems are a low-cost, environmentally friendly, wastewater treatment alternative compared to conventional wastewater treatment processes. This project presents a novel strategy for achieving net energy production while meeting stringent effluent standards using a hybrid symbiotic microalgae-based IFAS technology.
