I wish to personally welcome you to the Web site of the new Construction Engineering program at UCF. The program is designed to prepare future leaders of the construction industry.
The construction industry is the second largest industry in the United States employing more than six million people representing engineers, contractors, architects, owners, real estate developers, construction labor, material and equipment vendors, financial and insurance institutions, attorneys and government agencies. The program prepares students for rewarding careers in the areas listed above. The interdisciplinary nature of the program offers a mix of essential technical, managerial, and business courses for a successful career in the industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment growth of construction engineers to exceed 35,000 new positions by 2006.
Our program enjoys strong support from the leaders of the construction industry. The leading construction companies in Central Florida, Beers, Brasfield & Gorie, Bovis, Centex Rooney, Dave Boland, Jack Jennings, Metric, T & G, Turner, Welbro, and Wharton-Smith, offer student internships and scholarships to support students through their studies at UCF. Moreover, all courses offered include a strong professional and practical component including construction site visits and guest speakers. A construction advisory board comprised of local industry leaders provides guidance to the program in meeting industry needs and expectations for our graduates.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. I look forward to welcoming you into our program.
Best regards,
